Sansibar – Things to Do in Zanzibar, Tanzania

Sansibar

Sansibar is a beautiful, pristine tropical island off the coast of Tanzania. The archipelago includes the two main islands, Zanzibar and Unguja. The former has a historic trade center and the modern town of Stone Town combines Swahili and Islamic influence in its streets and buildings. Nearby, you can visit the House of Wonders, a former sultan’s palace. The northern villages are known for their beaches and are dotted with hotels.

Stone Town

One of the most fascinating parts of the island of Sansibar is Stone Town. This medieval quarter, located before Tansanias Kuste, is a maze of gassen and stone buildings. The architecture is unique, with influences from Arab, African, and British cultures. While visiting the town, be sure to stop by the House of Wonders, Africa’s first elevator. A free religious tour is also available for visitors.

Prisoner Island

If you’re in the mood for some snorkeling or swimming, consider a visit to Prisoner Island. With its gorgeous white sand beaches, this island is a perfect place to unwind. You can even see a few rare species of birds and 200 Giant Aldabran tortoises. And when you’re tired of the water, you can even walk around the island on your own.

Nungwi Beach

If you’re looking for an authentic African beach experience, Nungwi Beach is the place for you. A short drive from Stone Town, Nungwi is famous for its fine white sand, turquoise waters, and relaxed atmosphere. You can stay at one of the many affordable, comfortable hotels located in the area. Scuba divers and nature lovers alike will appreciate the area’s proximity to the Mnemba Atoll.

Jozani Forest Reserve

If you love animals and want to get up close to them, you should consider visiting the Jozani Forest Reserve in Zanzibar. This forest is home to the rare red colobus monkey, which can be seen nowhere else in the world. The Jozani Forest tour includes hotel pick-up in Stone Town. You can also enjoy the natural beauty of the island and the Jozani Forest. We recommend going during the month of June to see the monkeys.

JBL Sansibar black

JBL Sansibar White is a natural white substrate for your aquarium. This fine, rounded quartz sand is gentle on fish barbels while deflecting sludge and decay processes. It is ideal for a variety of marine aquarium settings and provides a natural-looking substrate that will never fade or deteriorate. It is also a safe choice for those who want their aquarium to be the envy of friends and family.

Islam in sansibar

Islam is the dominant religion in Sansibar, which is populated by a population of around 1.3 million people. Although the majority of Sansibaris are African, it is notable that the island’s Shirazi and Arabers are also dominant. The Arabers are the island’s dominant economic and political force, but most emigrated in the early 19th century. Today, all Sansibaris are Muslims. Islam is almost universal, with only one-third not being Muslim.

Tourism in sansibar

Zanzibar is a small island in East Africa, and one of its major economic opportunities is tourism. Since the 1980s, the number of visitors to Zanzibar has increased from 19,000 to over 200,000 per year, and the tourism industry has contributed over 25% of the island’s gross domestic product (GDP). However, tourism in Zanzibar is not without its problems. The rapid growth of the tourist industry has affected the environment. Overcrowding and over-development of the tourism infrastructure have resulted in erosion of the coastal areas.
